POSITION DESCRIPTION
The New Jersey Department of the Treasury, Division of Revenue and Enterprise Services (DORES), seeks self-motivated
candidates to fill Software Development Specialist 1 positions. These professional, entry-level positions will perform
analysis, maintenance, programming, and support work on modules of existing IT systems and/or Web Sites. As part of a
Software Development team, will develop new state-of-the-art application systems and/or support and maintain existing
systems. Other duties include: computer system analysis, database analysis with design, writing programming code, system
testing, debugging, troubleshooting, problem resolution, system documentation, and customer support.
Opportunities are available in two (2) areas. Details on preferred skillset are listed below:
Area 1: Experience with COBOL, ADABASE, Natural & CICS, Oracle, IBM mainframe utilities, TSO, ISPF, and JCL
Area 3: Java Developers Candidates should be able to understand and use Object Oriented Programming (OOP). They
should also be familiar with the following: JDK including older versions, Eclipse as an IDE, TomEE as an application server,
SOAP web services, HTML5, Cascading Stylesheets (native), JavaScript (native), JQuery, Bootstrap, Fontawesome, Oracle
database connections, and Oracle SQL - develop coding in the web application for SQL queries to read, update and insert
values from/into the connected oracle database. Candidates should have experience with the creation/development of the
following: JSPs, Servlets, Java Session Beans, and Classes. Finally, candidates should have knowledge of the following:
Development of financial web applications, Design of web applications, Sun One Studio 5 (IDE) and Sun System Application
Server 7 and Natural (Adabas) /EntireX.
The standard workweek is Monday through Friday. This position may be eligible to participate in the Department's pilot
telework program, which allows eligible employees to work remotely for up to two (2) days per week, as approved by
management. The position offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, prescription drug, and dental

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree. Proof of degree is required.
Experience:
One (1) year of programming, systems programming or computer analysis experience.
Note:
Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional experience as indicated
above on a year-for-year basis with thirty (30) semester hour credits being equal to one (1) year of
experience.
Note:
A Master's degree in an information technology field will substitute for the required experience.
